God kväll! Idag har det varit ännu en händelserik dag i Arsenal-världen, men istället för att skriva om allt som hänt (allt finns i stort sett uppe på Arsenal.com) tänkte jag låta en vän till mig skriva en gästblogg. Han heter Richard och är som ni kanske redan märkt engelsman. Han har hållt på Arsenal ända sedan han var ett litet barn och ser nästan varenda match live. Han har nyligen tagit examen från universitetet och ser för tillfället över sina möjligheter i det kommande arbetslivet.

Jag tänkte egentligen inte skriva så mycket mer om honom, utan ni får helt enkelt sätta er ner och läsa vad han har att säga om dagens Arsenal. Det är väldigt intressant, tro mig! Ni får mer än gärna kommentera inlägget (både på svenska och engelska om ni så vill).

Since the season ended in M a y we have had to live with daily dross from the Catalan scum (I’m now too angry to write their name) which has sanctioned their players to say what they like as they frantically try to unsettle Arsenal into making a move. It hasn’t materialised as of now and it looks unlikely, so why can’t they just give it a rest? We all know it’s tapping up but Fifa won’t do didly shit about it and so it will rumble onto next season. Frankly I didn’t think much of the world cup but the Cesc story took a background, the day after the world cup final though it all started again. It’s just beyond a joke, the media don’t want to write about anything else and so we have to live with the constant shite, thank you Daily Mail, Telegraph, Guardian, Sun all your morons that write for you. They do a fantastic job making every other article complete and utter shite.

Over time I have evolved from the ultimate optimist along with another #arsenal channel member (on IRC) blade thinking we were always going to pull it back into the ultimate pessimist. I look back and it upsets me that I have aged 5 years watching us scrap wins over the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa. We simply haven’t had a good enough defense to win the league and through my eyes I don’t see us doing it again. The way I see it is this, we go on about how great we all think Song has been, but hasn’t he just been the best of what we have? Not the best of the title winning teams, and there you have it. We don’t have the players that are good enough to win the league, we may think we do because we love our best players but compared to the likes of Essien, Drogba, even fat frank bastard Lampard, we aren’t as good.

What’s sad is the fact that Arsenal charge so much money for 60,000 to flood
through their doors every other week and to earn all this massive
capital and in my opinion Arsenal to them is no longer a football club,
but a cash machine for opportunistic investment. It’s all about the
profit, what they fail to notice is that the real heart of this club are
these 60,000 people (and the hundreds of millions of people around the
globe who’s money on satellite TV goes to the Premier League) that come
to watch 11 employees of Arsenal FC do battle in an environment that
should be about excitement and entertainment, these days that couldn’t
be any further from the truth. Football is a game for the people, this
bollocks about its fashionable for oligarchs and pant sniffers from
Kazazhdurkagurkstan to invest their trillions of blood money is utter
bollocks, they are killing clubs. See Liverpool (heheeh). I have heard
rumours from friends that season ticket sales are down by 5% and that it
was extremely hard work trying to fill in the empty season ticket
seats. Everyone says ‘oh yes it would be great to have a season ticket’,
but at that price it is a massive commitment on finances, and if you
live in London you’ll understand that a normal person wanting to shed
themselves of a 1k is barely possible without eating plain rice for a
months salary or even walking to work!

If I’m honest to
myself, I’m really looking forward to the season like a little kid, I
always get like this at this time of year, but I have more
responsibilities now in my life and so have turned into someone wanting
success over night than having to wait another 5 years (I’ll be 28 by
then and I know I shouldn’t expect it, but then they shouldn’t charge me
so much!) for Arsenal to shape into the new invincibles team that we
were promised this new set of players would become - and here it is. We
could probably go a long way to becoming champions with 3 or 4 players,
like we have ALWAYS SAID, we are a few players light, but has it EVER
been addressed in the past few years? The answer is no, because Wenger has put trust into players that aren’t good enough, sadly he doesn’t
have the killer instinct like Taggart to take players out if he doesn’t
think they are good enough.

Case Study one is the
goalkeepers, Almunia, Fabianski should both go, they are both fucking
useless and let’s not even build a case for them because there isn’t
one. They have both cost us crucial points over a season, a world class
goalkeeper like Cech or Van Der Saar makes the “wonderful” saves that
Almunia supposedly makes and then doesn’t make the fucking special
school div mistakes that he makes. I used to train a cricket team when I
was younger and there was a special group of kids, (bless them they
were brilliant) and I’m sure even they mastered the basics better than
Almunia does when we compare their level to what should be given basics
to a professional goal keeper of the Premier League it’s looking likely
that we will have to lump it with that cunt in go once again. Pity.

Case two is the defense. We have always won the league under Wenger with 2
solid midfielders, with this 4-3-3 formation I feel like we are slightly
exposed because we only play 1 defensive midfielder in the formation as
opposed to two with one in front. Our strike force is complete, I will
give it the benefit of the doubt, Van Persie is brilliant if fit,
Chamakh, Arshavin, Nasri, Bendtner, Walcott, Vela, it’s enough to be
really pushing for the title, what will be the problem this season is
conceding goals when we are in front and holding on to a lead. mark my
words.

If we could get someone as good as Song, as I
mentioned earlier he is the best of a bad bunch, but I’ll be honest,
someone alongside him equally as good as him might be enough to win the
title, that won’t come though and already we have doubts for the start
of the season with injuries etc. Is this really good enough for the
Arsenal? If you answer that as a yes then you’re deluded because we will
be fighting for 4th this season. I can’t see Liverpool being as shit as
they were last season and Manchester City will surely push on. Can’t
say I give a fucking monkeys about the scum and Harry “brown envelope” Redknapp, he can go and play in a big pit of maniac rabbits for all I
care but if we under estimate the fact that this season will be harder
than last season we could be looking at the Europa League next season
and sadly this is the first time since I can remember actually being
concerned by more than Man Utd & Chelsea.

I do offer a
ray of light though and that comes with a good start. If we start well,
then ok we have a chance, but again the results at the big boys have got
to improve on last season. I will happily print this article off for
those that disagree with me and eat it should we win either the premier
league or the champions’ league.

God eftermiddag! Det var väl flera - om inte alla - av er som märkte att gårdagens inlägg aldrig riktigt kom upp. Anledningen var att jag helt enkelt hade fullt upp och inte på något sätt fann tid till att skriva ett inlägg. Hur som helst är jag back and running now! Idag får ni ett vanligt inlägg med en hel del nyheter. Imorgon får ni läsa en mycket trevlig gästblogg från en Arsenal-supporter och på fredag är det äntligen dags för en liten frågestund! Nu till dagens inlägg!

Först ut i dagens inlägg är Ray Parlour som har en hel del intressant att säga. Först pratar han lite om våra mittbackar samt vårt nyförvärv Koscielny:

He [Koscienly] looks a great prospect and certainly has a certain hunger about him. He is perceptive in his reading of the game and acts quickly on what he sees unfolding in front of him, I have to say I have been very impressed. You've got Johan Djourou but the club definitely need another player in that position. You'd always say you need four strong central defenders. If it were down to me I'd like to see Phil Jagielka come to the club but I am not sure if that is going to happen.

Sedan pratar han även ut om vårt andra nyförvärv - Chamakh:

He seems to mean business up front on his own and you need the qualities that he possesses to make your way in the Premier League. I have been impressed with him and his speed of thought - and feet - and he has a great work ethic, is willing to make runs and is always keen to receive the ball. He can only get better to my mind.

Egentligen kan jag inte göra så mycket mer än att hålla med Parlour i det han säger. Koscielny har sett bra ut på sistone, men trots det så behövs fortfarande en till mittback som går rakt in i startelvan. Med Koscielny och Djourou som back-ups - och inte som startspelare - skulle jag vara väldigt nöjd med vår backuppsättning i mittförsvaret. Dessutom skulle jag inte känna mig lika orolig ifall någon av våra mittbackar blev skadade i någon vecka, då jag tror att både Koscielny och Djourou kan få jobbet gjort, så att säga.

Angående Chamakh är jag lika imponerad som alla andra. Däremot vill jag höja en varningens finger att vi fortfarande inte skall förvänta oss för mycket från marockanen. Han kommer inte på något sätt alls bli en ny Thierry Henry (vilket jag hoppas att ni alla förstår) och han kommer fortfarande inte att ösa in mål i ligan. Däremot kommer han att bli viktig för oss, då han är en väldigt bra fotbollspelare. Vad jag dessutom gillar med Chamakh är att han är villig att göra grovjobbet som många andra struntar i.

Något som är mycket intressant är att både Koscielny och Chamakh pratat en del om deras flytt till Premier League. Koscielny är först ut och säger följande om den bästa ligan i världen:

In France I watched the Premier League a lot. It is a very physical league, with a fast and intense pace. I used to follow the Big Four of English football; Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. I love the atmosphere here with the supporters. Even when you lose, the supporters are always behind you to lift you and take you to a higher level.

Chamakh fortsätter på det inslagna spåret:

I used to watch all the big Premier League games on TV in France  with the amazing fans in great stadiums, with great goals and great players, and I used to think I want to play there one day. And then I played against Chelsea and Liverpool with Bordeaux in the Champions League and those two experiences were unbelievable. Despite the two defeats, I loved the way the fans supported their team.

I love the rhythm of the game. For a player, there is nothing better than England. This is a real football country with love and passion for the game and the clubs. I guess with my height and my qualities in the air, playing in England was always the best choice for me. I have always dreamt of playing in this league.

Han pratar dessutom om hur fruktansvärt det var att förlora mot Chelsea:

I would like to play against Chelsea again. When we went there with Bordeaux, we got hammered and it is a horrible memory. It was so bad that I wished the referee had stopped the match 15 minutes before the end. So I hope that this time I will beat them with Arsenal.

Sist men inte minst pratar han om hur Samir Nasri tagit hand om honom sedan han anlände:

Samir Nasri, who is a good friend, took me under his wing a bit and made it very easy for me. It was really good to have him with me and I spent a lot of time at his house watching the World Cup. I am an easy going guy and I knew there wouldn't be any problem integrating within this group.

Ni kanske frågar er varför jag öser på med dessa uttalanden, men det är helt enkelt för att både Koscielny och Chamakh sagt många intressanta saker. Och hur kul vore det inte om Chamakh gick och avgjorde mot Chelsea på självaste Boxing Day? Hur som helst tycker jag att bägge nyförvärven passat bra in i laget, av det vi sett. Den stora frågan är hur bra de klarar av trycket när Premier League går in i det kalla vinterhalvåret och när pressen blir allt större på laget? Det är nämligen då man börjar se en tydlig skillnad på bra och dåliga spelare.

Dagens sista uttalande görs av Thomas Vermaelen som har följande att säga:

You have to keep performing every year. If you play for Arsenal you can never say 'I had a good year, so now I'll ease off'. That's not possible. People ask you to do better every year and I will try to do that. It's always more difficult to stay at that level and next year that is the challenge - not only to maintain the level but to improve upon it because it wasn't enough last season. We didn't achieve anything. We have to grow again.

Vermaelen är en riktigt bra mittback, men i många matcher blir han alldeles för målkåt och alldeles för offensiv. Lägg där till att hans defensiva arbete inte var det bästa under förra säsongen. Gallas fannas väldigt ofta där för att reparera misstag som gjorts av belgaren. Vad jag vill få sagt är att det finns väldigt mycket rum för förbättring. Vermaelen är dock fortfarande en av de bästa mittbackarna i ligan och han kommer att bli en viktig kugge i laget om vi ska gå långt den här säsongen. Jag hoppas innerligt att han håller sig skadefri under säsongen, precis som jag hoppas att alla andra Arsenal-spelare gör.

Lite smånyheter finns det som alltid att bjuda på. Sagna bjuder på ett uttalande som vi hört i tusen olika versioner, Arsenal firar Emirates Cup (video) och Almunia är säker på att han stannar.

Som ni säkerligen märkt själva har såpan kring Fabregas fortsatt som aldrig förr. För att vara ärlig känns det som om Barcelona är villiga att göra exakt vad som helst för att "få hem" Cesc. Jag har tidigare förklarat mitt hat för Barcelona och trots att jag är av den typen som gång på gång säger åt andra att älska sitt eget lag mer än att hata andra lag kan jag inte låta bli att ignorera vad Barca (inkluderar spelare, ledare, media och supportrar) håller på med.

Det senaste som hänt är att 1) Iniesta har sagt att han vill ha Fabregas i Barcelona (no shit?), 2) Arsenal "förbjöd" Wenger att gå till Barcelona för nio år sedan och 3) Cesc själv gråtit framför tusentals Barcelona-supportrar.

Just nu har den här sagan varken ett sorgligt eller lyckligt slut. För att vara ärlig har den här sagan inte något slut alls. Det känns som om Barcelona försöker riva upp sår där det inte finns skorpor, precis som Ahldén sade. Tyvärr kan vi ingenting annat göra än att vänta hem Fabregas och se vad han har att säga om allting.

Jag vet att media har kokat ihop massvis historier som inte är sanna, men Cesc har fortfarande inte tagit sig i kragen och sagt något till oss (förutom i glädjeruset timmarna efter VM-vinsten). Jag hoppas verkligen att det han har att säga har varit värt vår långa väntan. Jag respekterar Fabregas och jag gör antagligen det mer än många andra här har gjort, men det har nu kommit till en gräns där även jag känner att Cesc måste rensa luften och säga exakt (och då menar jag exakt) hur det ligger till.

Men precis som jag sagt många tidigare är han just nu en Arsenal-spelare och bör även bemötas som sådan. Kom ihåg det. Sedan är det skönt att veta att vi har en tränare som är så pass intelligent som Wenger.

Well, ni som är sugna på att läsa mer om matchen och hur vi gjorde ifrån oss kan läsa mer här. Idag känner jag mig nämligen smått tvungen att skriva av mig om matchen ur en mer personlig synvinkel. Arsenal vann som vi alla vet Emirates Cup för andra året i rad och i dagens match mot Celtic var flera spelare imponerande. Tyvärr är det inte det första vi kommer att komma ihåg från den här matchen. Det vi kommer att komma ihåg är hur vi för trehundrasjuttioandra gången släppt in ett lag i matchen med risken att tappa poäng.

Realistisk optimist som jag är brukar jag ofta tala mer om det positiva än det negativa, men just nu känner jag mig tvungen att kritisera vårt nonchalanta spel. Visst var det här bara en träningsmatch och visst vann vi turneringen ändå, men trots det är det oroande att veta att vi fortfarande har enorma problem med att 1) döda matcher och 2) låta bli att släppa in lag i matcherna.

Under de två föregående säsongerna har vi sett samma problem kosta oss otaligt många poäng. Vem kommer inte ihåg hur Tottenham lyckades komma ikapp från 4-2 till 4-4 08/09, eller hur Wigan vände 0-2 och vann med 3-2 för bara några månader sedan? Det är bara två av tiotals exempel på hur vårt nonchalanta spel i slutet av matcherna kostat oss poäng. Det hände igår mot Milan och det höll på att hända idag igen mot Celtic. Just nu ser det verkligen inte ut som om vi lärt oss av våra misstag.

Personligen är jag naturligtvis glad också. Arsenal höll trots allt undan till slut och vann hela turneringen. Dessutom imponerade Wilshere stort samtidigt som Nasri fortfarande ser ostoppbar ut. Det finns väldigt många positiva saker att hämta ur årets Emirates Cup. Därför är det något av en skam att vi skall behöva tampas med samma problem som vi nu haft i flera år.

Vi skall inte behöva oroa oss för någonting som detta när vi trots allt är ett av världens bästa lag (jag räknar in de femton bästa klubbarna just nu som världens bästa klubblag). Jag har dessutom ingen aning om vart det brister. Kan det vara kommunikationen mellan målvakterna och försvaret? Kan det vara kommunikationen försvarare emellan? Kan det vara trötta ben? Kan det vara så att vi lägger av totalt när vi tror att vi rott hem en vinst?

Huvudsaken är den att vi måste lära oss att kämpa ända tills domaren blåser i pipan. Jag vill se mitt, vårt och ert Arsenal kämpa ända tills det är slut på matchen, oavsett om det står 4-0,1-1 eller 4-2 till oss eller motståndarna.

Jag hoppas verkligen att det här inte upprepar sig när väl säsongen drar igång. Då är det viktiga poäng som står på spel i varenda lilla match. Oavsett om vi möter Chelsea borta eller Blackpool hemma är det viktigt att vi kniper dem där poängen. I slutändan är det just dem där poängen som gör oss till mästare eller ej.

Just nu tycker jag dock att vi skall vara glada över turneringsvinsten, en Nasri i toppform, en imponerande Wilshere och en Fabregas som utan tvekan stannar i Arsenal. Vi har ett par till småproblem att räta ut, men när de väl är borta kan det mycket väl bli vår säsong i år. Vi får hoppas och tro - precis som vi alltid gjort och precis som vi alltid kommer att göra.
